The fossil fuel industry is a major provider of employment and a predictable tax base for the Central Appalachian region, yet this industry often lacks the due diligence of sustainable practice. Conversely, The JOBS Project promotes Smart-JOBS (an alternative terminology to “green jobs,”) which are created through patterns of resource use that aim to meet the needs of the present generation while preserving resources for future generations.
